Job Description

As Senior Video Signal Processing Engineer you will enjoy developing novel and practical solutions that maximize the end user value of the collected signal. Your extensive experience working with imaging systems are evident in how you take pride in sharing your knowledge with your peers. You have worked on product development and take pride in seeing your solutions being used in products that make a difference in people’s lives. You understand that making something ten times faster can be as valuable as making something ten times better. Duties/Responsibilities

Develop, test and document new methods for processing video to perform specific functionality based on high level requirements.
Mentor junior engineers and interns
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop products
All other engineering duties as required for position
Analytical Problem Solving: Ability to define and conduct experiences to identify the root cause of difficult technical and non-technical problems. Capable of analyzing alternate approaches and developing practical solutions to solve complex problems.
Collaboration & Teamworkis necessary establish good working relationships with development team members and when working with other FLIR teams. 
Strong Communication Skills are necessary when creating proposals and communicating in writing that it is easy to understand and interpret what and why information is being communicated. Listens attentively without interrupting and/or being distracted by other things.
Continuous Learning is required to learn new approaches, tools, and methodologies to stay abreast of technology changes as they relate to image processing.
Displaying strong personal Initiative and motivation is vital to achieve desired performance results with projects that support the organization. 
Strong Oral Communication and Presentation Skills are essential when making oral and graphical presentations to capture the interest and involvement of the audience while developing/delivering a clear and concise message.
Education/Experience

Required Experience

You have an advanced degree in physics, mathematics, electronics or computer science.
You have at least 10 years’ experience in a technical field, with 5 of those with an exclusive focus on image processing.

Job Description

Job Summary:

You will provide leadership for the development activities of engineering projects.

Detailed Description:

Effectively plans and manages multiple engineering projects, of any size or complexity, for quality development of infrared cameras, components, and accessory products
Actively manages project milestones, budget performance, deliverables and quality, and reports project status using department process, tools and metrics
Maintains an active risk tracking and mitigation plan for all aspects of a project including schedule delays, technical issues, supplier problems. Proactively engages development teams and Engineering Management to reduce and mitigate project risks and issues.·  
Provides leadership and direction to the engineering staff on the development according to the released Design Control Process
Mentors junior team members to include leadership approach, project management methodology, tools, and soft skills
Regular interaction with Product Management to clearly define and control project requirements and changes to the established baseline
Develops a strong understanding of the business case and requirements critical to the success of the project and product, to include occasional, direct interaction with customers/users
Ability to assess the health of a troubled project of any-size, and generate a recovery project plan, risk mitigation plan and actions to achieve the project objective
Excels in coordinating with the internal organization and company leadership to achieve development objectives and product manufacturing goals.
Contributes project management process improvement ideas and initiatives for continuous improvement 
Assists with developing and reviewing project estimations for all projects, including resource allocation, priorities, schedules and forecasts. 
Assists in the establishment of the department budget
Assists in proposal activities, including the internal maintenance of project scope estimates for all identified future projects.
Provides feedback into the Engineering processes so they are constantly improved

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline
5+ years project/program management experience, managing and leading highly skilled technical teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Exceptional communication and organizational skills at all levels in a company; robust interpersonal skills with evidence of teamwork and collaboration
Experience in coordinating cross-disciplinary project teams in a matrix management environment

Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Mechanical Engineer 

Designs and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packaging. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation.

Primary Responsibilities:

Mechanical design and drawings of infrared cameras, sub-assemblies, components and possible tooling using Solidworks
Analyze mechanical performances (structural, thermal, fluid flow, dynamic, geometric tolerances, etc.) using hand calculations and detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Participate in engineering designs reviews to ensure requirements are met
Interface and manage subcontractors and machine shops with respect to design aspects, engineering and manufacturability issues.
Inspect first articles and assemble prototypes, detailed failure analysis, and initiate ECNs for appropriate changes if required
Work closely with Detector Packaging, Camera Manufacturing and QA for design/manufacturing improvement and for technical supports in production of detector packages and cameras
Works with Manufacturing Engineering on drawing and BOM releases, change control, and configuration management

Solidworks 3D CAD solid modeling software and mechanical design practices experience required.

Engineer will be required to maintain contact with engineering after completion of design tasks to ensure tools and equipment designed are operational and performing desired functions.
Required to provide manufacturing engineering with appropriate design input on process tooling and to assist in developing manufacturing techniques.
Experience in tool and fixture fabrication with experimental basis in metallurgical processes, materials and assembly techniques.  
Working Conditions:

Regular and predictable attendance. This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

SYSTEMS DESIGN ENGINEER

Is your passion to design, define and implement complex system requirements for customers and/or prepare studies and analyze existing systems? We are looking for an authority in Systems Design Engineering to determine system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions.

You will be executing top-level design of thermal infrared camera cores, or thermal infrared imaging systems that may encompass the following technologies: IR/visible imaging, positioning mechanisms, data transport/networking, motion control, image processing; involving conceptual design, detailed design, engineering assistance to build, characterize, test and validate prototype units; production transition and support to manufacturing. IR focal plane array characterization and calibration as well as image processing algorithm development may also be required


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and flow down requirements for Electro-Optical (EO) systems, sub-systems, or components

- Analyze and predict system performance for thermal imaging camera cores, or imaging systems deployed into security and surveillance, maritime, or automotive end uses.

- Provide technical direction to interdisciplinary team to support development of EO systems

- Performs as a key participant in design reviews

- Integrate and test EO systems

- Conduct technical assessments of customer requirements

- Generate and maintain system level specifications, design review content, test and validation plans.

- Assist in preparing technical proposals and presentations for gaining new business

- Technical support of products over their entire lifetime

Manager - Project Management R&D

Job Description

Responsible for the overall project management function, providing vision, leadership, coordination and management of the PMO processes and functions. Will also manage/provide leadership for the development activities of engineering projects.

Detailed Description:

Implement and continuously improve upon the Product Development Process (PDP); lead teams to complete activities to current policies and best practices; keep documentation organized
Develop and maintain metrics that measure the effectiveness of projects during the active development phase and later over the life of the product.
Expand the role of project management to include management and metrics for the portfolio of engineering projects
Actively manage dependencies between projects and within other FLIR departments:
Delivery prioritization – align project delivery with strategic objectives, manage changes in priority and adjust project schedules as needed
Project Resource Management - tracking and management of project resources including resource allocation and capacity balancing
Project Closeout - lessons learned, measures of success
Coach, mentor and motivate Project Managers within the PMO organization and cross functional team members; lead teams effectively and provide input to functional managers on team member performance
Provide regular reporting and visibility on project statuses; lead management reviews and project meetings; develop and manage agendas, minutes and follow up with action items
Identify and assemble project teams, identify in advance necessary resources and assign tasks and timeframes to facilitate successful completion of identified projects
Identify and communicate risk, scope creep and actively manage risk mitigation plans

Minimum 5 years of experience in project management with demonstrated successful outcomes and 3+ years of engineering or product development experience.
Demonstrated success in project management leadership for complex and concurrent projects
Experience with product development methodologies including Agile
Show understanding of work breakdown structures, critical path analysis and scenario based project scheduling to include budget and resource estimations
Exceptional communication and organizational skills at all levels in a company; robust interpersonal skills with evidence of teamwork and collaboration
Experience in coordinating cross-disciplinary project teams in a matrix management environment
High level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness with strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal direction
