The panel is part one of a two-part series.
Panel on Thursday, October 8th at 6pm
Workshop on Thursday, October 15th at 6pm - this will be a skills-building opportunity for smaller-group discussions with industry professionals.
This panel will focus mostly on current students and recent grads, and experiences during this (very strange) time. We'll be talking about topics such as:
Being motivated in this time where our routines are upside-down (for working professionals and students alike)
What companies, schools, and organizations are doing now to support students and professionals
What the jobs market looks like right now, and what hiring and job searching looks like during COVID (focus on internships and entry level jobs)
Setting goals now that can help down the line with the changing scenery around job searches, applications, interviews, etc.
Panelists:
Eloisa Chavez is our Community Engagement Director at SB Women in STEM and has worked in the local nonprofit world for several years. She'll be our moderator for the evening!
Nikia Acy is a social media coordinator at HOKA and started her job remotely in March. We’ll hear about how the onboarding process looked and how work looks different for her than she may have originally planned for.
Latrece Seneca is the Associate Director for UCSB Orientation Programs and Parent Services. We're looking forward to hearing about UCSB's (and/or other schools) support for students who are entering school during the pandemic as well as for students who are entering the job force.
Isabel Agundis is a mechanical engineering student at SBCC and just completed an internship at Northrop Grumman. Can't wait to hear about the internship experience during the pandemic and also about her drive to make it all happen.
Izzy Bacon is a recruiter at Well Health. She'll be bringing her expertise to provide some great insights on applying, interviewing, recruiting, and hiring with the additional challenges of the pandemic, as well as how companies are still trying to engage their current employees while working remotely.
